A large pepper tree,
from which the hotel got its name, stood for many years in the west
courtyard area where the fountian is now. By the late 1990s, the hotel had
fallen into disrepair. It was essentially demolished in 2000, reopening in
2003 in its present form. Current owner Robert
“Poor Old Bob” Rosenau took
great care to ensure that the present hotel reflects the past of The community adjacent to the hotel has also seen a revival in recent years, placing The Tree within easy walking distance of vibrant shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. A postcard from
the past. This would be facing Indian Canyon. Facing Palm Canyon- see the
large pepper tree on the
right.
