  History of The Tree

The Pepper Tree Inn was originally built in 1950’s on the grounds of a former clinic owned by Dr.Pepper (not the same as the soft drink).Today - the only remains of the original hotel are the fireplace and old wooden beams in Room 37-the One Bedroom Suite. You can see the rock chimney from the pool.

A large pepper tree, from which the hotel got its name, stood for many years in the west courtyard area where the fountian is now. By the late 1990s, the hotel had fallen into disrepair. It was essentially demolished in 2000, reopening in 2003 in its present form.

Current owner Robert “Poor Old Bob” Rosenau took great care to ensure that the present hotel reflects the past of Palm Springs while providing an atmosphere of privacy and comfort.

The community adjacent to the hotel has also seen a revival in recent years, placing The Tree within easy walking distance of vibrant shopping, dining, and entertainment venues.
